These two poems are inspired by the form of surrealist Claude Cahun’s “Heroines” (1925), a series of fifteen satirical monologues given by various legendary or historical women (such as Sappho, Helen of Troy, the biblical Judith, the Virgin Mary, etc.) that begin with epigraphs and are written in prose.
